The Clydesdale Group specialise in awkward sites, such as this former restaurant set in the heart of what is considered countryside from a planning point of view. This attractive thatched building was once a very popular restaurant but had fallen out of favour and was no longer viable as an ongoing business. Although the property clearly was more suited to housing, due to its countryside status, planning needed a great deal of specialist knowledge.

We bought the site unconditionally as we were confident that through our own expertise, and that of our experienced planning consultants and architects, a worthwhile consent was achievable.

By working closely with the local authority, we have now achieved a detailed planning consent for a stunning 2,400 square foot detached contemporary house, along with creating a fabulous 2,600 square foot refurbishment of the original thatched restaurant.

Buying unconditionally is not something that should be taken lightly as there can be HUGE risks. However, with our experience, such sites do not concern us as we have the skill and funds to take these on successfully. Therefore, helping to provide much needed family accommodation through this processes of “recycling” redundant buildings.
